Meet Jasper!
This cute boy is my new nephew! Actually number 15 for me which is kinda crazy! He just joined a family of 5 and is now kiddo number 4. His older brother and sisters are so stinking excited that he’s finally here. And we are all too!
The whole way this birth story went down was a little last minute/hectic.
Since this is my brother and sister-in-law, I offered to let them drop their kids off when she went into labor so I would help watch them. Yep, add 3 kids to my already 2 crazy ones and you know things are going to get intense. Luckily, Frozen II saved my life and easily distracted all of them. They also wanted me to come take pictures if I could. That meant I had to be ready to run out the door as soon as someone else could take over watching the kids. We knew she was being induced and it would most likely be a c-section, so it wasn’t completely unpredictable. Thank goodness!
When I got to the hopsital we had about 20-30 minutes until they were ready to go. We took some shots while waiting and they face timed their kids before they went to bed. There was a bit of nerves about Jasper’s arrival since Britt was only a little over 35 weeks along. They were a little worried about his lung development. Luckily, Brittany makes super developed babies that always seem to come early, so we had that on our side.
I wasn’t allowed into the operating room to take pictures..
because they wanted to keep everything as clean and simple as possible. I had hoped that my surgical tech experience would convince them to let me in but no go. So, instead I shot through a tiny little window in the hallway and prayed that everyone would move just enough to provide me a quick glimpse! This was all so exciting for me since I’ve never done a birth story quite like this before.
Jasper came out crying and perfect! He did have a little trouble breathing after a little bit so they took him to the NICU to be monitored. I grabbed a few shots through the NICU window as well but then headed home since I couldn’t do much else. I planned to come back when he was able to be back in their room. A few days later he was doing much better so I came back to the hopsital and did a sweet fresh 48 session. I wasn’t able to come when their kids were there so we didn’t get any full family shots but maybe I’ll have a newborn session to come!
